Welcome to Cars Explained!

Hello everybody, and welcome to Cars Explained.

Cars Explained is a technical blog devoted to explaining many of the concepts behind the cars you know and love. Everything from the fundamentals of how engines work or what horsepower actually is, all the way up to explaining forced induction systems and modern fuel injection.

My intent is to have this blog serve as a resource for those who are either trying to get in to the automotive industry, settle a debate or simply understand what's really going on under your hood.

Now, for a little bit about myself. My name is Michael Baker. I am currently 24 and have been working in the automotive industry since I was 19. However, my passion for cars has been life-long. Eve since I was a small child, I would want to help my parents work on their cars, or spending my free time reading technical articles and magazines.

I studied Automotive Technology in college and worked for several years as an automotive technician in several different shops. I have also worked as a service adviser at a repair shop, as parts department personnel and now in the automotive performance industry at one of the largest and most well known companies in the industry.

So once again, welcome! I hope that you find this blog informative, entertaining and inspiring. Understanding many of the concepts behind your car and the automotive industry has the potential to save you thousands of dollars for the life of your car, and will hopefully give you a new appreciation for the machines that we use every day.
